LG U+ Unveils Voice over LTE Services with Ericsson

South Korean operator LG U+ has introduced voice over LTE (VoLTE) services to its customers in partnership with Ericsson’s subsidiary LG-Ericsson. With commercial VoLTE (GSMA IR.92) services, the operator can also offer enhanced telecom grade services such as HD voice, video calling, chat and presence.

With commercial VoLTE (GSMA IR.92) services, the operator can also offer enhanced telecom grade services such as HD voice, video calling, chat and presence.

Ericsson has supplied an end-to-end VoLTE network to LG U+, including LTE-RAN, Evolved Packet Core, and IMS Telephony Application Server. 

LG U+ launched LTE commercially on July 1, 2011 and as of August 2012, operator has confirmed that LG U+ is serving 3.1 million of LTE subscribers.

Another South Korean service provider SK Telecom has already started HD voice call service over LTE in beginning of August
