Ericsson has planned to demonstrate LTE with a speed of 150 Mbps and HSPA Evolution with up to 84 Mbps at their local offices in Johannesburg, South Africa from 21 June – 16 July, according to mybroadband.co.za article.

“LTE/4G is the continued evolution of the 2G and 3G networks and is an integral part of the full service broadband concept. As the next generation of mobile communication technology, it enables the fast transfer of the increasing amounts of data in an efficient and cost-effective way, optimizing the use of the scarce frequency spectrum.” said Lars Linden, Head of Ericsson Region sub-Saharan Africa.

Ericsson is conducting LTE trials across world and earlier this month TD-LTE trial was reported in Dublin, Ireland. Ericsson achieved speeds up to 80MBits/sec in 2.3 GHz band, according to reports.

Ericsson has signed commercial LTE contracts with five major operators to date, including AT&T, Verizon Wireless and MetroPCS  in the US, NTT DoCoMo in Japan and TeliaSonera in Sweden.
