China Mobile to test TD-LTE in seven cities

China Mobile has started testing of fourth-generation technology TD-LTE in seven cities.

China Mobile has started testing of fourth-generation technology TD-LTE in seven cities. According to People’s Daily Online, TD-LTE testing network will be completed in the seven cities of Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Beijing in 2011.

Test network will consist of more than 1,000 base stations. China Mobile plans to launch LTE data cards in the second half of 2011. The 4G data cards can achieve a peak Internet connection speed of 100 Mbps, more than 10 times faster than that of 3G data cards.

China Mobile expects to start procurement of testing terminals soon and It is expected to be in commercial use by 2012.
