4G Americas: Launches of Release 12 LTE-Advanced Could Hit 40 by 2014 End

There are 300 commercial LTE networks now in 107 countries and 350 commercial LTE networks are anticipated by the end of 2014, reports 4G Americas. Additionally, LTE-Advanced is now commercially deployed on 9 networks in 7 countries worldwide, with those numbers expected to reach 40 networks by year-end 2014.

Additionally, LTE-Advanced is now commercially deployed on 9 networks in 7 countries worldwide, with those numbers expected to reach 40 networks by year-end 2014.

With 277.6 Million LTE subscriptions globally, LTE connections are forecast to surpass 2.3 billion by 2020 (Informa Telecoms & Media WCIS+). U.S. and Canada have largest LTE market share with 125.8M users in 49 LTE networks whereas Europe accounts for 39.8M LTE subscriptions in 115 LTE networks. Asia Pacific and Latin America & Caribbean have 103.6M in 54 LTE networks and 3.6M LTE users in 40 LTE networks respectively.

In March of this year, AT&T launched LTE-Advanced in Chicago. It is expected that all four national U.S. carriers – AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon – will launch LTE-Advanced in 2014 and 2015.
