Armenian operator VivaCell-MTS has commercially launched LTE service in most part of Yerevan, as well as in Gyumri, Vanadzor, Dilijan and Tsakhkadzor. Introduced in December 2010, the 4G/LTE network till recently was only covering the business center of Yerevan.
Armenian operator VivaCell-MTS has commercially launched LTE service in most part of Yerevan, as well as in Gyumri, Vanadzor, Dilijan and Tsakhkadzor. Introduced in December 2010, the 4G/LTE network till recently was only covering the business center of Yerevan. VivaCell-MTS LTE network now covers about 33% of the populated areas of the country.
As part of ongoing investment in 4G/LTE network infrastructure, VivaCell-MTS has recently installed LTE equipment, including 200 LTE eNodeB base stations, covering the 70% of Yerevan area, 100% territory in Gyumri, Vanadzor, and Tsakhadzor, as well as 80% of the Dilijan. Operator has permission to use radio frequencies within 40 MHz range for LTE-based 4G network in Yerevan and the regions.
According to VivaCell-MTS, its 4G/LTE can provide speeds of up to 60 Mbps in the downlink, and 20 Mbps in the uplink, as showcased via the speed tests using the end-user equipment sold at VivaCell-MTS service centers.
