Alcatel-Lucent has signed a contract with Telefónica, to become a reference supplier for its 4G LTE network in Spain, company announced today. Under the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will deploy some 8,000 4G LTE base stations and the 5620 Service Aware Manager (5620 SAM).

Broadcom to Acquire LTE-Related Assets from Renesas
Broadcom Corporation has entered in to a definitive agreement to acquire LTE-related assets from affiliates of Renesas Electronics Corporation in $164 million. Company expects to accelerate availability of Broadcom’s first multimode, carrier-validated LTE SoC platform into early 2014 with this acquisition.
Orange Launches LTE Network in Liechtenstein
Orange has announced the launch of LTE network in the Principality of Liechtenstein. According to operator, its 4G network currently provides coverage to 91% of the population of the country.
