Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) has expanded its LTE network and is now offering nationwide dual-band LTE coverage in Singapore. In the last year, operator spent more than S$150 million to provide nationwide 4G coverage and plans to invest more to meet fast growing demand.
Operator is also deploying Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology in commercial buildings to boost LTE download speeds from 75Mbps to 150Mbps. SingTel has so far deployed MIMO in busy locations such as Nex, Jurong Point, Changi Airport and Tampines Mall.
According to company, more than 300,000 customers have signed up for its LTE service since its launch in June 2012. Company expects the pace of adoption to accelerate and believes that the majority of its mobile customers will be 4G users by 2015.
