Alcatel-Lucent has signed an agreement with Etisalat to extend its’s LTE coverage across its footprint including a new partnership in Sri Lanka. Company also announced that Alcatel-Lucent and Regional Telecom, a communications service provider in Northern Iraq, are to launch the 4G LTE network in Iraq.

Etisalat is deploying Alcatel-Lucent’s lightRadio solution to deliver 4G LTE-FDD network. In preparation for the forthcoming award of LTE licenses in Sri Lanka, Etisalat has signed an agreement with Alcatel Lucent for LTE service roll out. The agreements were signed Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, CEO at Etisalat Group and Ben Verwaayan, CEO at Alcatel Lucent and by Dumindra Ratnayaka, CEO at Etisalat Lanka and Rajeev Singh-Molares, President, Alcatel-Lucent Asia Pacific.
The new Regional Telecom network in Iraq will offer large-scale wireless broadband services and provide significant support to ongoing efforts to revive the Iraqi economy. For the project, Alcatel-Lucent is providing its end-to-end 4G LTE solution, including base stations, IP mobile backhaul for 4G LTE and existing 3G CDMA traffic, Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and elements of its platforms.
