Telcel, a subsidiary of Latin American wireless services provider America Movil has launched commercial LTE network in Mexico. Starting last week, Telcel LTE network has coverage in 30 areas of nine major cities: Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Queretaro, Puebla, Ciudad Juarez, Tijuana, Hermosillo and Merida.

Starting last week, Telcel LTE network has coverage in 30 areas of nine major cities: Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Queretaro, Puebla, Ciudad Juarez, Tijuana, Hermosillo and Merida.
Operator expects to have LTE coverage in 26 cities covering 65% of the population by first quarter of 2013.
According to Huawei, operator has adopted its SingleRAN LTE solution to build a Heterogenous Network (HetNet). During the launch ceremony, Huawei’s Ascend P1 smartphone and Huawei’s LTE broadband modem E397 device were also displayed.
Telcel is currently offering four mobile devices: Nokia Lumia 900 LTE, Motorola RAZR HD, Samsung Galaxy SII and Huawei’s LTE broadband modem E397; and plans to offer more 4G LTE-compatible devices soon includeing Samsung Galaxy S III LTE, Sony Xperia Ion, Huawei Ascend P1 LTE, iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Tablet.
