ZTE and Mobitel Sign $40 Million Deal

ZTE has signed a strategic cooperation agreement worth $40 million with Mobitel of Sri Lanka, company announced today. Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd. is a national mobile telecommunications service provider and a wholly owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom.

According to the agreement, ZTE will deploy over 700 2G/3G/4G LTE base stations and transmission equipment for Mobitel’s Stage VII Mobile Network Expansion Project. 

As part of project, ZTE will build a commercial 4G FDD-LTE network. Company has already successfully completed the Stage VI Mobile Network Expansion Project in June 2012 for Mobitel.

“The next major development in our technological footprint through this new expansion will be the introduction of the latest long term evolution (LTE) standard, which will be the commercial deployment of 4G Mobile Technology,” said Mobitel CEO Mr. Lalith De Silva.
