African operator Movicel has launched of commercial 1.8GHz FDD LTE network in the Cabinda province of Angola. Earlier during MWC 2012 in Barcelona, Movicel announced it would deploy the first commercial LTE network in Angola by the end of May 2012, however operator has rolled out network 45 days ahead of the original plan.

Movicel plans to provide mobile broadband technologies and services across the entire country within three years. In 2012, Movicel will expand LTE coverage to major cities, where economic development urges more information infrastructure.
According to Huawei, Movicel is using its end-to-end SingleRAN convergent solution, including RAN, Core Network, DBS (Distributed Base Station) and terminal devices.
