eAccess to launch LTE service in March

Japanese operator eAccess will launch commercial LTE service next month. Operator has set initial LTE data service price of 3,880 yen per month. According to eAccess, its LTE service will have 40% population coverage by end of March this year and will reach to 70% in the end of March 2013.

Huawei recently announced that it will deploy the nationwide scale UMTS/ LTE 1.7 GHz convergence network for eAccess. Based on the actual customers and traffic map, Huawei provides eAccess with end-to-end SingleRAN convergent solution and terminal devices, said the company.

Last week, Ericsson announced that eAccess will become the first operator in the world to launch a Mixed Mode solution for WCDMA and LTE. With Ericsson’s Mixed Mode solution, eAccess can use the same radio frequency band for both LTE and WCDMA services, said the company. Ericsson will provide eAccess with full turnkey Network Rollout, Network Optimization & Consulting, and upgrade the Packet Core network to an Evolved Packet Core architecture.
