Telekom has launched commercial LTE network in Cologne, Germany. It is Telekom’s first LTE network in a city. Further expansion will start in the coming weeks.
“I am particularly pleased that we were able to announce only 12 months after the LTE-auction the green light to use the fastest mobile internet here in Cologne,” said René Obermann at the commissioning of the new network.
Deutsche Telekom have installed 100 LTE-stations in city. In addition, the company has in recent months moved some 120 km of fiber optic cable in the Cologne city area to connect the base stations with the latest transmission technology with an investment of approximately 5 million euros.
Beginning July, commercial LTE services will be available in Cologne and operator would offer web’n’walk Connect XXL at basic price 74,95€. There would not be any charge for first 3 months.
