ST-Ericsson showcased advanced multimedia applications, including video streaming and web-browsing on a slim tablet over a TD-LTE network, in a demonstration at the closing ceremony of Expo 2010 Shanghai China. The TD-LTE tablet was designed and manufactured by Quanta Computer.
This demonstration highlights the collaboration between ST-Ericsson and Quanta Computer on LTE modules and USB dongles. ST-Ericsson’s LTE modems will be integrated into Quanta Computer’s next generation’s connected devices such as tablets, notebooks and laptops, enabling mobile subscribers to download data at speeds of up to 100 Mbps and upload data at speeds of up to 50 Mbps over both TD-LTE and LTE FDD networks.
“Our LTE modems are now ready for mass-production, and our cooperation with Quanta will ensure that the rollout of LTE services in 2011 will be supported by an array of compelling devices,” said Pascal Langlois, Senior Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of ST-Ericsson.
In February 2010, ST-Ericsson announced it is working with China Mobile to drive the development of TD-LTE.
