NTT DOCOMO & Taiwanese chip-maker MediaTek has entered into a LTE-PF, a mobile-terminal platform based on LTE, licensing agreement with NTT DOCOMO.
NTT DOCOMO & Taiwanese chip-maker MediaTek has entered into a LTE-PF, a mobile-terminal platform based on LTE, licensing agreement with NTT DOCOMO.
“We are pleased with MediaTek’s decision to adopt our LTE mobile-terminal platform,” said Toshio Miki, Managing Director of Communication Device Development Department of DOCOMO.
MediaTek plans to integrate LTE technology with its 2G and 3G technologies upon the completion of the LTE-PF licensing agreement with DOCOMO.
“MediaTek has earned a market-leading reputation in the 2G era. We will continue to innovate from 2G into 3G and 3G into LTE,” said Ming-Kai Tsai, Chairman and CEO of MediaTek.
Through this licensing agreement MediaTek will offer a globally interoperable LTE mobile platform and will provide a cutting-edge wireless communication solutions and a smooth transition from 3G to 4G and beyond, according to company statement.
MediaTek plans to jointly conduct inter-operability testing with DOCOMO in Japan to optimize and increase adoption of it’s LTE mobile phone.
