March 24, 2010 – Demonstrating its commitment to streamline deployment of next-generation 4G networks, Powerwave Technologies, Inc is assisting operators in the rollout of 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) services through a line of antennas optimized for use in the 700 MHz spectrum band.
On display at International CTIA Wireless 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada, is Powerwave’s line of industry-leading 700 MHz LTE antennas which provide the power and performance needed to address wireless operators’ key deployment challenges, including mitigating site-to-site interference, and requirements for passive intermodulation and attaining optimal coverage.
Consisting of a single-band antenna covering 698-896 MHz bands and a dual-band solution covering both 698-896 MHz and 1710-2170 MHz bands, Powerwave’s 700 MHz LTE antennas boast a highly efficient design — allowing operators to plan for more coverage with fewer antennas as Powerwave’s components offer more gain per length compared to other LTE antennas on the market.
“We believe our 700 MHz LTE antenna line is the highest performing LTE antenna line on the market today,” said Khurram P. Sheikh, chief product and development officer for Powerwave Technologies, Inc. “This product line is yet another example of how Powerwave stands ready to assist operators in reducing next-generation wireless deployment costs and complexity, speeding rollout, and ensuring world-class reliability.”
Further setting Powerwave antennas apart are the products’ ability to provide consistent performance across frequency bands and down tilts via Powerwave’s patented Aperture Coupled Patch technology, which ensures consistent performance over the entire band and the elimination of dead zones. This also translates to reduced total cost of ownership as operators can cover more area with fewer cell sites. The Aperture Coupled Patch also offers superior azimuth tracking, translating into less optimization needed by the network.
Powerwave’s antenna options also include fixed electrical tilt support, as well as integrated remote electrical tilt (iRET) functionality under one antenna radome. The company’s iRET capabilities deliver maximum performance and improved aesthetics, and eliminate installation and reliability issues that can occur with typical exterior remote electrical tilt modules.
