August 13, 2009 | Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Ken Wirth has been appointed as President of Alcatel-Lucent’s 4G/LTE Wireless Networks.
In this new position, Ken Wirth will be responsible for the development, marketing, and delivery of the company’s LTE solutions. He will have end-to-end responsibility for all 4G/LTE solution definition, resource management, architecture and roadmap, LTE product management, third party management, partnerships, program management and solution validation. He replaces Mary Chan who has decided to leave the company to pursue opportunities outside of the telecom network infrastructure segment.
Ken Wirth brings to this position over 24 years of industry experience and an extensive knowledge of the company’s global customers and markets. Throughout his career he has held a variety of leadership positions including running a multi-billion dollar global business where he put in place an approach for leveraging products and technology to develop more simplified solutions for customers. In addition he has led sales teams that supported both large and emerging service providers, and has held numerous positions in product management and development, market development and Finance.

Ken Wirth will assume his new position on August 31, 2009 and will report to Kenneth Frank, President, Solutions and Marketing. He will work with Mary Chan to ensure a smooth transition.
