Estonian operator EMT plans to provide LTE coverage to 95% of Estonian population by the end of 2013 and throughout the whole country by the end of 2014. EMT is currently building its 4G LTE network in the 1800MHz and 2600MHz frequency bands.

AT&T Continues to Expand LTE Network
AT&T has launched LTE service in Juneau, Alaska; Brunswick and Savannah, Ga.; Evansville, Ind.; Monroe, La.; and Madison, Wis., continuing its nationwide 4G LTE rollout. Operator also expanded in Charlotte, NC and Norfolk-Virginia Beach, Va. AT&T 4G LTE is now available in 153 markets.
Sprint Adds LTE Network in Nine New Markets including San Juan, Puerto Rico
U.S. operator Sprint has launched 4G LTE network in Altoona, Pa., Asheville, N.C., Columbus, Ind., Elkhart/Goshen, Ind., Hammond, La., La Crosse, Wis., San Juan, Puerto Rico, Statesville, N.C., and Temple, Texas. Operator has also expanded LTE service in San Germán, Yauco, Salinas and Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico.
Vodafone Launches 4G LTE in New Zealand
Vodafone New Zealand has launched 4G LTE Network in 1800MHz frequency band. Vodafone’s LTE network is live now in parts of Auckland and the network will expand to more suburbs in coming weeks. LTE will be available in parts of Christchurch in May, and parts of Wellington in August/September 2013.
Qualcomm Introduces RF360 For Single, Global LTE Smartphone Designs
Qualcomm has announced RF360 Front End Solution that addresses cellular radio frequency band fragmentation and enables a single, global 4G LTE design for mobile devices. Band fragmentation is the biggest obstacle to designing today’s global LTE devices, with 40 cellular radio bands worldwide.
UK’s 4G Spectrum Auction Winners Announced
UK regulator Ofcom has announced the winners of the 4G mobile spectrum auction today. After more than 50 rounds of bidding, Everything Everywhere Ltd, Hutchison 3G UK Ltd, Niche Spectrum Ventures Ltd (a subsidiary of BT Group plc), Telefónica UK Ltd and Vodafone Ltd have all won spectrum.
Maxis Introduces 4G LTE Smartphones
Malaysia’s communications service provider Maxis Berhad (Maxis) unveiled two 4G LTE smartphones today, the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC One XL. These will be the first two smartphones to be activated on Maxis’ LTE network.
EE to Turn on LTE Network in 27 More Towns by June 2013
UK’s communications company EE will switch LTE network in 27 additional towns across the country by June 2013, expanding 4G coverage to more than 65 UK towns and cities in total.
KPN Launches LTE Network in Amsterdam
KPN has officially turned on 4G LTE network in Amsterdam. Operator expects to have covered approximately 50% of the Dutch population by mid-2013 and nationwide coverage in the second half of 2014.
EE Launches LTE in Nine More Areas Across the UK
UK’s telecom operator, EE has made 4G LTE services available in nine new towns across the UK, bringing the total number of towns and cities covered by LTE to 27. EE switched on LTE today in Amersham, Bolton, Chelmsford, Hemel Hempstead, Southend-on-Sea, Stockport, Sunderland, Sutton Coldfield and Wolverhampton.
