KPN Launches LTE Network in Amsterdam

KPN has officially turned on 4G LTE network in Amsterdam. Operator expects to have covered approximately 50% of the Dutch population by mid-2013 and nationwide coverage in the second half of 2014.

KPN has officially turned on 4G LTE network in Amsterdam. Operator expects to have covered approximately 50% of the Dutch population by mid-2013 and nationwide coverage in the second half of 2014.

The triangle Alphen aan den Rijn, Haarlem, Zaandam have LTE coverage now, with Amsterdam as epicenter.

KPN obtained a combination of 120MHz of frequency licenses in the Dutch spectrum auction last year at a total cost of EUR 1,352 million. The acquired spectrum allows KPN to roll-out the 4G LTE mobile technology across The Netherlands and consolidate its 2G (GSM) and 3G (HSPA) positions.
