Canada’s Rogers Communications is investing approximately $2.2 billion in wireless capital investments in 2011 and 2012, including close to $500 million to bring LTE to the majority of Canadians by the end of 2012. Operator has just completed one year of it’s LTE launch.

Everything Everywhere Starts LTE Trial in Cumbria, UK
Everything Everywhere has started customer LTE trial in Cumbria in the North of England. The 4G trial was announced in May. Employees of various local businesses in the Threlkeld area are testing 4G LTE using both dongles and routers. The trial is achieving speeds of 20 Mpbs, says the operator.
T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless Sign Spectrum Agreement
T-Mobile USA has inked a deal with Verizon Wireless that will allow operator to purchase and exchange of certain Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum licenses in 218 markets across the U.S. The transaction will improve T-Mobile’s spectrum position in 15 of the top 25 markets in the U.S.
Orange Starts LTE Pilot in Marseille, France

Smile Telecom Launches LTE in 800 MHz Band in Tanzania
African operator Smile Telecom has launched 4G LTE service in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in the 800 MHz frequency band. Alcatel-Lucent is supplying LTE network to enable the delivery of fast mobile broadband services.
