Huawei Technologies is open to acquisitions but has no specific target at present, a senior executive told Reuters.

“Huawei will take “cross cultural” integration into consideration when making decisions, but dismissed the potential acquisition of Alcatel Lucent as a “rumor” according to the Ken Hu, company’s chief marketing officer. “When we think about making an acquisition we need to think about our capability to consolidate the new business and whether we will be able to manage it well, especially for the cross cultural element,” Hu said.

Worldwide, Huawei has deployed over 60 LTE commercial and trial networks. Huawei is one of the few vendors in the industry that has completed an interoperability test between the LTE commercial network and the LTE commercial terminal. Huawei is also one of the leading LTE patent holders globally. As of March 2010, Huawei has submitted more than 4,700 LTE/SAE standard proposal contributions to 3GPP and holds 181 LTE essential patents, becoming No.1 and account for 34% of the infrastructure vendors in LTE essential patents.

In terms of commercial WiMAX contracts, Huawei has more than 65 deployment contracts across North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Middle East, and Africa.
