Claro Launches Commercial Network in Brazil

Brazilian  operator Claro has launched LTE network in four Brazilian cities Recife, Campos do Jordao, Buzios and Parati. Earlier this year in August, operator had started LTE pilot in three cities Campos do Jordao, Buzios and Parati.

NewCore Selects Ericsson for LTE Network

US carrier New Core Wireless, in partnership with select rural wireless operators, has selected Ericsson to supply and implement its 4G/LTE network.  Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will supply New Core Wireless its Evolved Packet Core LTE solution, along with its LTE radio network to New Core Wireless’ partners. 

Ofcom Begins 4G LTE Auction Process

UK regulator Ofcom today started 4G Auction Process by taking the application from the potential bidders along with an initial deposit of £100,000. All applications will be reviewed by Ofcom to check that the applicants are qualified to take part in the auction. 

Alcatel-Lucent to Provide LTE Solution to Rio Tinto in Australia

Rio Tinto, a international mining group, has selected Alcatel-Lucent to implement LTE technology to support its existing operations and future business needs. Alcatel-Lucent will enhance the speed and capacity of existing critical communications infrastructure for Rio Tinto in Western Australia, extending it further with LTE and fibre-optic technologies. 

Telenor Norway Introduces LTE for Mobile

Telenor has opened its LTE network for mobile phone usage as well. Operator’s LTE services so far were available on PCs and tablets only. Telenor launched LTE network in Norway two months ago in 11 cities and towns. 

Telecom New Zealand to Start LTE trial in Wellington, Auckland

Telecom New Zealand will begin 4G LTE trial in parts of Wellington and Auckland from Friday this week. The Auckland trial will take place in parts of the North Shore on the 2600MHz spectrum and will be conducted by Huawei. TELUS Expands LTE Network in Canada

Canada’s TELUS has launched LTE network in Brantford and St. John’s. Operator plans to provide LTE services in additional communities in the coming months.  Today’s announcement is part of the company’s $650 million and $8.4 million investments in Ontario and Atlantic Canada respectively over the next three years
