UK Service Provider O2 has launched commercial 5G in several major cities enabled by Ericsson 5G Cloud Core and 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) products and solutions. O2’s 5G networks have been switched on in Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast and Leeds, supporting commercially available O2 5G smartphones.

Ericsson and Qualcomm Complete Interoperability Testing of 5G NR Data Call on 2.6 GHz Band
Ericsson and Qualcomm have completed a non-standalone (NSA) 5G New Radio (NR) data call on 2.6 GHz, adding a new frequency band to those successfully tested for commercial deployment. The bi-directional downlink and uplink data call was made at the Ericsson Lab in Kista, Sweden last December 20.
T-Mobile, Ericsson Make 5G Call on 600 MHz
U.S. carrier T-Mobile has made a successful 5G data call and video call on 600 MHz both on a live commercial network in partnership with Ericsson and Intel. T-Mobile also accomplished a tri-band 5G video call with three users on different spectrum bands – 600 MHz, 28 GHz and 39 GHz.

Ericsson, SK Telecom (SKT) and Qualcomm have successfully established a 5G NR data call on mid-band over SKT’s live, 5G commercial network in Busan, South Korea. SK Telecom plans to launch 5G commercial services with 5G smartphones, built on the collaborative work with Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies, in the first half of 2019.
