TELUS to invest $3B, extend LTE network

TELUS has announced new plans to invest $3 billion in advanced technology and new facilities over the next three years in British Columbia. Operator has already invested more than $26 billion in technology and operations in the province since 2000. 

ZTE to upgrade Hi3G’s network in Sweden

Hi3G has awarded a contract to ZTE to deliver the next stage of the LTE infrastructure network as it builds out the LTE TDD/FDD dual-mode network in Sweden. Under new contract, ZTE will deliver the SDR-based infrastructure equipment to upgrade the operator’s 3G network in Sweden.

du selects Cisco to build mobile broadband network

UAE telecommunications service provider du is deploying a nationwide mobile broadband network and has selected Cisco’s mobile Internet solution to deliver high-speed 4G LTE mobile data services to its customers. du will use the Cisco ASR 5000 Series as its mobile Internet evolved packet core (EPC) platform to provide greater network performance and intelligence.

Alcatel-Lucent and Etisalat complete LTE trial in UAE using lightRadio

Alcatel-Lucent and UAE operator Etisalat have completed a technology trial with Alcatel-Lucent’s lightRadio portfolio over a working 4G LTE network. During the trial, Alcatel-Lucent showcased the capabilities of its new 9768 lightRadio Metro Radio Outdoor (MRO) at Etisalat’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, over Etisalat’s commercial 4G LTE network.

Airtel selects NSN to manage TD-LTE network in Maharashtra, India

Indian telecom service provider, Bharti Airtel has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to build and operate its TD-LTE network in Maharashtra, one of the country’s largest telecom circles. The launch of commercial TD-LTE services is planned later this year. Bharti Airtel will deploy its TD-LTE network in the 2.3 GHz frequency band.

China Mobile and Alcatel-Lucent Agree on lightRadio Architecture Co-creation

Alcatel-Lucent and China Mobile have signed a co-creation agreement under which teams from the two companies are conducting joint development and test activities on a series of lightRadio projects at Alcatel-Lucent’s Stuttgart lab. This collaboration will speed the introduction of the lightRadio product prototype to the second half of the year.
