Optus Plans Commercial 5G Rollout by Early 2019

Optus plans to roll out 5G technology in Australia by early 2019 with a fixed wireless product in key metro areas. This announcement follows the launch of a successful outdoor trial for 5G New Radio, which showed 2Gbps download speeds using a potential device for a fixed wireless service in the home and business.

Continental, Ericsson, Nissan, NTT DOCOMO, OKI and Qualcomm to Host Cellular C-V2X Trials in Japan

Continental, Ericsson, Nissan, NTT DOCOMO, OKI, and Qualcomm plan to carry out their first Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) trials in Japan. The objective is to validate and demonstrate the benefits of C-V2X using direct communication technology defined by the 3GPP Release 14 specifications. 

T-Mobile Launches Narrowband IoT Plans

T-Mobile USA has launched narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) plan for $6 per year. T-Mobile launched NB-IoT last October and plans to launch the technology nationwide by mid-year. T-Mobile also announced that the company has certified new NB-IoT modules from u-blox and Sierra Wireless for use on its network.
