EE Demonstrates End-to-End 5G Network Architecture with 2.8Gbps Speeds
UK’s operator EE has showcased 2.8Gbps download speeds across an end-to-end 5G test network in its UK mobile lab. The test was carried out in partnership with Huawei and linked the fully virtualized 5G core to the 64×64 Massive MIMO active antenna unit broadcasting 5G New Radio.
EE Launches WiFi Calling in UK
U.K. operator EE has launched WiFi Calling to make calls and texts available in every WiFi-connected home and small office in the UK. WiFi Calling from EE will be available from launch on the Lumia 640 and from Friday 10 April on the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
Ofcom: 14.7 Mbps Average LTE Download Speed in UK
Ofcom has published research into 4G and 3G mobile broadband performance. Overall, 4G networks performed much better than 3G networks in five sample towns and cities tested – Edinburgh, Leeds, London, Newcastle and Poole/Bournemouth – where both 4G and 3G networks have been rolled out.

UK’s mobile operator EE today switched on its LTE-Advanced network in central London. The EE 4G+ technology uses 2.6GHz spectrum, and is available in large parts of central London, including Shoreditch, Old Street, Southbank, Soho, Westminster and Kensington.
