Intel’s 4G LTE Modem Now Commercially Available

Earlier this week Intel announced the commercial availability of its multimode, multiband 4G LTE solution. Intel’s XMM 7160 LTE modem is now shipping in the 4G version of the Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 (10.1) which is available in Asia and Europe.

200 LTE networks have been commercially launched in 76 countries by 31 July 2013, confirms the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA). 54 LTE networks of these have been launched in the first 7 months of 2013.

GSA: 948 LTE User Devices By Manufacturers Globally

Recent GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) report confirms that 100 manufacturers have announced 948 LTE-enabled user devices, including frequency and carrier variants. 531 new LTE user devices were launched in the past year while the number of manufacturers increased by almost 50% in this period.

ABI Research: 500M LTE-Advanced Subscriptions by the End of 2018

The LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) subscriptions will take an important role in the mobile subscriber market, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 295% between 2013 and 2018 to reach 500 million, reports ABI Research. It will represent 34% of the overall 1.47 billion LTE-related subscriptions.
