Omnitel Starts Offering LTE-Advanced Services
Lithuanian mobile operator has announced that it is providing LTE connectivity to 80 percent of the country’s population now. Additionally, Omnitel began offering 4G + LTE-Advanced services in the five largest cities in the country in December.
Three UK Now Has Over 3 Million 4G Customers
Three UK has 3.1 million 4G customers now, just 10-months on from its commercial launch, representing over a third of Three’s 8 million customers. Three began enabling customers in March with all subscribers eligible to access 4G at no extra cost.
Vodafone Launches 4G+ Service in Ireland
Vodafone Ireland has introduced 4G+ technology with data speeds of up to 150Mbps in Ireland. Vodafone customers in Waterford city will have 4G+ access from 1st December, while Cork, Dublin and Limerick cities will be switched on by the end of December.
Verizon and AT&T Plan VoLTE Interoperability by 2015
Verizon and AT&T plan to enable VoLTE- to-VoLTE connections between Verizon Wireless and AT&T customers in 2015. Verizon introduced its Advanced Calling 1.0 services across the United States in September. AT&T introduced VoLTE services in its initial markets earlier this year, and continues to expand to more markets across the United States.
EE Expands LTE Coverage, Introduces LTE-Advanced in London
UK’s mobile operator EE today switched on its LTE-Advanced network in central London. The EE 4G+ technology uses 2.6GHz spectrum, and is available in large parts of central London, including Shoreditch, Old Street, Southbank, Soho, Westminster and Kensington.
