Competition is fierce as operators look to sign up consumers to their new superfast 4G networks and make a return on their spectrum auction investment. A reason for this is that operators aren’t offering consumers anything beyond commodity services, such as 4G roaming bundles.

EE Announces LTE Roaming in France and Spain

UK’s EE plans to offer customers access to 4G LTE in France and Spain. The deals are the first of a series of outbound roaming agreements that will allow EE customers to get 4G speeds outside of UK. EE’s 4G coverage currently reaches over 70% of the UK population.

Zamtel Launches 4G Service in Zambia

Zambia’s communication solutions provider Zamtel today launched its 4G LTE service in Kitwe. Zamtel has also set up a walk-in 4G Live Experiential Centre at its Kitwe offices, where customers can experience LTE in operation.

Intel’s 4G LTE Modem Now Commercially Available

Earlier this week Intel announced the commercial availability of its multimode, multiband 4G LTE solution. Intel’s XMM 7160 LTE modem is now shipping in the 4G version of the Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 (10.1) which is available in Asia and Europe.
