French service provider has selected Bouygues Telecom for upgrade of its 2G/3G radio networks and rollout of 4G LTE equipments. Operator plans to transform its existing 2G and 3G radio networks in order to improve network performance as data traffic increases and more people move into French cities.

Hutchison Telecom wins 30MHz block in 2.3GHz Band
Hutchison Telephone Company has won bid for a block of 30MHz spectrum for a utilisation fee of HK$150 million in the auction of radio spectrum in the 2.3GHz band held by the Office of the Telecommunications Authority in Hong Kong. Hutchison Telephone is a subsidiary of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited.
Rogers to launch new LTE devices and price plans
Rogers plans to launch two new LTE devices to offer the faster speeds to its customers. In addition operator will offer more LTE plan options. Operator will launch the Sierra Wireless AirCard 330U model of the LTE Rocket stick as well as the Sierra Wireless AirCard 763S LTE Rocket mobile hotspot soon.

Seventeen manufacturers have so far adopted the Femto Forum APIs for their upcoming LTE products including Airvana, AirWalk Communications, Broadcom, Cisco, Freescale, ip.access, mimoOn , Mindspeed, Picochip, Radisys, Tata Elxsi, Texas Instruments and Ubiquisys amongst others.
Ericsson and Qualcomm Demonstrate SRVCC Voice Handover between LTE and WCDMA
Ericsson together with Qualcomm successfully performed a voice handover based on the 3GPP-standardized functionality Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SRVCC) demonstrating users will experience seamless voice services when they move out of LTE coverage, since the call will automatically be handed over to WCDMA or GSM access during the call.
U.S. Cellular to launch LTE Network in March
U.S. Cellular is launching a 4G LTE network next month in conjunction with its partner, King Street Wireless. The LTE network will cover 25 percent of U.S. Cellular’s customers. The March rollout of 4G LTE includes select cities in Iowa, Wisconsin, Maine, North Carolina, Texas and Oklahoma, including some of U.S.
Vodafone Portugal ready to launch LTE network
Vodafone is prepared to launch LTE network very soon in Portugal. Vodafone will deploy 4G around the country, with the initial coverage available in thirteen district capitals – Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Guarda, Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Leiria, Lisbon , Santarém, Setúbal, Faro, Funchal and Ponta Delgada.
LTE spending to reach $24.3 billion in 2013
LTE is expected to claim the major share of wireless infrastructure capital spending next year as mobile carriers migrate towards it. Global capital spending on LTE technology is projected to reach $24.3 billion in 2013, nearly triple the $8.7 billion of 2012, according to IHS iSuppli report.
