TELUS Expands LTE Network in Canada
Canada’s TELUS has launched LTE network in Brantford and St. John’s. Operator plans to provide LTE services in additional communities in the coming months. Orange Starts LTE Services for Corporate Customers, to Launch LTE for Consumers from Feb 2013
Orange France has launched 4G LTE services for corporate customers and will introduce LTE for consumers from February 2013. Operator has now switched on LTE in four cities – Marseille, Lyon, Nantes and Lille. Orange had started a LTE pilot in Marseille in June earlier this year.
SaskTel Starts LTE Network Technical Trial
Canada’s SaskTel has started testing its 4G LTE wireless network ahead of commercial launch. A technical trial with select employees will take place immediately with commercial availability scheduled for Regina and Saskatoon, and surrounding communities, beginning early February 2013.
Vodacom Selects Nokia Siemens Networks to Enable Voice & SMS Continuity with CSFB in LTE Network
South Africa’s telecom service provider, Vodacom has selected Nokia Siemens Networks’ Liquid Core to enable circuit switched fall-back (CSFB) functionality in its LTE network. This functionality allows LTE users to make and receive voice calls using either the GSM or 3G network while retaining the benefit of data services via LTE.

Zain Kuwait has announced the launch of its 4G LTE network nationwide. Operator’s Wiyana Connect 4G LTE plan is available for compatible mobile phones, tablets, routers, hotspots and dongles in 1800 MHz band.
Ofcom Announces LTE Spectrum Auction Plan
UK regulator, Ofcom has announced a timetable for the 4G LTE mobile spectrum auction. This new spectrum will almost double the amount of bandwidth currently available to 3G networks. Ofcom has confirmed reserve prices for the different lots of spectrum to £1.3 billion and has set the auction rules, from applying to bidding.
Verizon Wireless to Complete LTE Rollout by Mid-2013
Verizon Wireless is aiming to complete its 4G LTE network rollout by mid-2013, announced Fran Shammo, Verizon’s EVP & CFO, at Wells Fargo Technology Media & Telecom Conference last week. Verizon Wireless had earlier said that by 2013 the LTE coverage map will match it’s current 3G coverage map.
