Ericsson and Swisscom Get 5G Ready with 5G NSA Data Call

Ericsson and Swisscom have stepped up their 5G game by setting up end-to-end, multivendor 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) data call on 3.5 GHz band in the Swiss city of Burgdorf. Swisscom aims to be the first mobile operator in Switzerland to offer 5G services, pending the definitive outcome of commercial spectrum in the country.

Telstra Starts 5G on the Gold Coast

Australian carrier Telstra has switched on 5G technology across selected areas of the Gold Coast. The operator plans to launch more than 200 5G-capable sites around the country by the end of 2018.

AT&T Adds More cities to 5G Rollout Plan in 2018

AT&T plans to offer 5G services to customers in a dozen cities this year and is adding Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C. and Oklahoma City as the next three identified cities for its 5G plan. These cities join previously announced cities of Dallas, Atlanta, and Waco.

Cisco and Partners to Start 5G Trial in Rural Areas of the UK

Cisco and it’s partners aim to create a UK government funded complete end-to-end rural 5G testbed system for trials of new wireless and networking technologies, spectrum sharing, new applications and services with a focus on testing and demonstrating approaches for ensuring that 5G connectivity is accessible and affordable in hard-to-reach rural areas.
