UK regulator has announced that a four-year process to release 800MHz spectrum for 4G mobile broadband has been completed. This spectrum was previously used for broadcasting digital TV channels and by wireless audio devices.

Sprint Switches on LTE Network in 41 More Locations
Sprint’s LTE service is now available in 151 markets including 41 new markets announced today. The new locations include Philadelphia; the Bronx and Brooklyn, N.Y.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Nashville, Tenn.; Oakland, Calif.; and Portland, Ore.

Australian carrier Telstra has announced the plan to extend 4G LTE coverage to a further 200 regional towns across Australia in the next six months, including towns such as Batemans Bay (NSW), Colac (VIC), Biloela (QLD), Berri (SA), Margaret River (WA) and Latrobe (TAS).
AT&T to Acquire Leap Wireless in $1.2 Billion
AT&T and Leap Wireless have entered into an agreement for AT&T to acquire Leap in $1.2 billion. Leap’s network covers approximately 96 million people in 35 U.S. states. Under the Cricket brand, Leap currently operates a 3G CDMA network, as well as a 4G LTE network covering 21 million people in these areas.
Optus Expands LTE Coverage, Announces Additional Markets
Australian operator Optus has launched LTE network in Wollongong. Optus has switched on LTE at five mobile sites in central Wollongong, kicking off a series of extensive network upgrades and expansions in the greater Illawarra area in the coming six months, which will also include upgrades to the Optus 3G network.
Vodafone Australia Opens LTE Network to New Customers
Vodafone Australia is now inviting new customers across metropolitan Australia onto its new LTE network. Earlier Operator has launched LTE services to existing customers on 12th June 2013 with coverage in selected major metro areas of Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle and Wollongong.
DiGi Launches LTE Service in Klang Valley, Malaysia
Malaysia’s operator DiGi Telecommunications has announced introduction of 4G LTE services. Covering selected high traffic locations in the Klang Valley, DiGi 4G LTE is now available to all new and existing customers who subscribe to specific DiGi Broadband and Tablet Plans.
AT&T Announces New LTE Markets
AT&T has announced additional LTE markets earlier this week, operator’s LTE network now covers 326 U.S. markets. According to AT&T more than 200 million people are covered by its 4G LTE network.
