Movistar and Tigo Launch LTE Networks in Colombia

Colombia’s mobile operators Telefonica subsidiary Movistar and Tigo have launched services. Tigo has launched LTE network in cities of Bogota, Medellin, Barranquilla and Bucaramanga. whereas Movistar has also launched LTE network in same cities as well as in Cali.

According to El Tiempo, Movistar expects to be covering 58 cities by July next year with investments of COP700 trillion (USD362 million).  Operator plans to expand to 313 municipalities by 2018

Movistar’s LTE packages are available for a starting price of COP 66,800. Operator is offering multiple monthly plans that include 2, 4, and 8GB of mobile data traffic. Tigo is offering a LTE subscription that includes 6 GB, unlimited SMS and unlimited access to Tigo Music, for COP 69,000. Tigo’s another data plan with 15 GB costs COP 109,900.
