“4G-building program has continued apace in the late summer and autumn. The new network will bring unprecedented speeds and new capacity for almost 50 locations, “said Sonera’s mobile business, Director Marek Hintze.
In parallel, operator has constructed it’s 3G network with dual carrier technology. This network has a theoretical maximum speed of 42Mbps and is available in more than 160 locations around Finland.
TeliaSonera introduced the LTE in Finland in December 2009 and launched LTE services for pre-commercial use in Turku on June 2, 2010. Operator launched commercial 4G services on November 30, 2010. In Finland, 4G networks use two frequency bands 1.8 GHz and 2.6 GHz.
