Malaysia’s mobile operator Celcom Axiata Bhd is conducting LTE trials with Huawei and Ericsson reports Malaysia Star.
“We have clear reasons for doing (these) trials and (find out) what the technology can do (for us). Ericsson and Huawei are doing the trials for us,” Celcom CEO Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly told StarBiz.
The Malaysian government is expected to auction three spectrum blocks at 2.6Ghz for LTE next year. It is expected that two 70MHz blocks at 2.6GHz and one 50MHz block would be put on sale.
Another Malaysian service provider Maxis Berhad has already conducted LTE trials and has collaborated with Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei for LTE trial. Peak download speed of 60 to 104 Mbps using both 10MHz and 20MHz bandwidth channels were achived during LTE trials.
