Ericsson and Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories have announced Taiwan’s first LTE field trial results.
Ericsson and Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories have announced Taiwan’s first LTE field trial results. The LTE trial network was implemented by Ericsson at the end of last year as part of Chunghwa Telecommunications Laboratories’ effort to support the Networked Communications Program (NCP) Project.
LTE trial results include demonstrations of indoor and outdoor mobility tests, application services as well as CHT-TL’s in-house developed LTE Simulator.
The trial focused on feature testing IP-based LTE-EPC, MIMO, LTE-EPC network performance verification, and displaying how to use LTE-EPC for various IMS-based applications and mobile broadband applications.
Demonstration included LTE network’s smooth performance in High-Definition Multimedia Streaming, optimized network efficiency with high speed transmission rates and minimal delay, and the various applications of IMS multimedia services. In addition, it demonstrated outstanding performance in FTP high speed data transmission in both the fixed and the mobile environment with on-the-move speeds of 60 and 90 kilometers per hour, as well as a seamless handover among base stations.
“Our cooperation with Ericson on the LTE trial has demonstrated the outstanding performance of LTE mobile technology and therefore strengthened our confidence in the future of LTE development,” said Dr. Yuan-guang Tu, President of Chunghwa Telecommunications Laboratories.
“We are very honored to be chosen to cooperate with Chunghwa Telecommunication Laboratories for Taiwan’s first LTE field trial under the NCP project. LTE has a strong technology basis coming from successful experiences of GSM / WCDMA / HSPA, paving the way for high capacity applications in mobile and fixed networks. With Ericsson’s vision of 50B connected devices by the year 2020, we believe there is a big untapped market potential for device manufacturers, consumer products, mobile operators and the application industry. We will do our utmost to work with Taiwan’s industry to offer the best next generation mobile broadband experience,” said Philip Tseng, President of Ericsson Taiwan.
