Malaysian mobile communications service provider Maxis Berhad has successfuly conducted the 4G LTE trial and has demonstrated dowload speeds of up to 104 Mbps.
Malaysian mobile communications service provider Maxis Berhad has successfuly conducted the 4G LTE trial and has demonstrated dowload speeds of up to 104 Mbps.
Maxis has collaborated with Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei for this LTE trial. Peak download speed of 60 to 104 Mbps using both 10MHz and 20MHz bandwidth channels are achived during LTE trials.
“The early successful trial of LTE allows Maxis a better understanding of 4G technology and the value it can deliver to our customers,” said Mark Dioguardi, Maxis´ Executive Vice President and Head of Network and Technology
In July, Maxis has planned further LTE field testing in Bandar Utama and Damansara areas. Maxis Berhad had over 11.4 million mobile subscribers as of 30 June 2009.
Malaysian government aims to auction three spectrum blocks at 2.6Ghz for LTE next year. It is expected that two 70MHz blocks at 2.6GHz and one 50MHz block would be put on sale.
