NSN used its Flexi BTS & Samsung LTE dongle for demo. For live demonstration, Nokia Siemens Networks used a low frequency so as not to disrupt the existing network frequency.
“Up to 22 LTE network is expected to unfold in late 2010, including Indonesia,” said Nils Kleeman, Head of Mobile Broadband Sales, APAC, Nokia Siemens Networks. The chipset from the vendor (includes dongle) will be available starting mid-year 2010, according to Nils.
Nokia Siemens Networks had demonstrated successful Voice over LTE (VoLTE) call in an end-to-end LTE network setup at CTIA Wireless 2010. This was the first time a standards-compliant VoLTE call had been demonstrated between VoLTE clients from different vendors.
Nokia Siemens Networks offers an evolutionary approach for implementing GSMA-compliant VoLTE with its Fast Track solution. Network operators already using Nokia Siemens Networks’ mobile softswitches can use Fast Track to implement VoLTE functionality with a simple software upgrade.
