April 28, 2010 – According to TeleGeography, Indonesia mobile operator XL Axiata plans to hold trials of Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology in H2 2010, subject to the receipt of a requisite permit from the government.
It is understood that initial trials of the technology for so-called ‘4G’ wireless services will be conducted in partnership with Swedish vendor Ericsson and will also involve government and educational establishments.
The tests will last between three and six months and will take place in Jakarta, starting in the second half of the year.
